Dr Kar Loong Ng grew up in Adelaide. He was Dux of Norwood High School in 1993 and continued to study medicine at the University of Adelaide, obtaining his medical degree in 2000. In 2009, he obtained post-graduate qualifications in the Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management, followed by Specialist qualifications as an Occupational and Environmental Physician.
Dr Ng was awarded the Deane Southgate Award for the Highest National Score in the Fellowship examinations. In that same year, his average cost per workers compensation claim, compared to the SA average, was 22% for allied health costs, 27% for income maintenance, 46% for chemist costs and 67% for medical services cost. He had no lost time injuries during that year.
Dr Ng has work experience in the field of Emergency, Psychiatry, Drug and Alcohol,Prison Health, Disability Medicine (Disability SA / Strathmont) and a Part Time DJ.
Dr Ng has special interest in early workplace intervention, injury prevention, worksite assessment, medico-legal assessment and complex chronic injury management. Dr Ng is an accredited permanent impairment assessor for Return to Work SA, Comcare, Military Personnel, Motor Accident Injury Assessment Scheme and Northern Territory (AMA 4)
Dr Ng is the Principal of Next Generation Occupational Medicine and Rose Park Consulting.
