Physiotherapy Services

Physiotherapy for injured workers will involve the assessment, treatment and management of a variety of injuries, muscle and joint problems. It encompasses conditions as simple as a sprained ankle to complex problems involving several body areas and chronic pain. It also involves the post-operative rehabilitation of many orthopaedic conditions. Musculoskeletal physiotherapy can be highly effective in reducing pain and restoring strength and mobility particularly in low back and neck conditions. Treatment options can include passive manual therapy techniques such as mobilisation and manipulation, as well as individual therapeutic exercise programs, dry needling, therapeutic taping and posture and movement re-education. Therapeutic exercise programmes can include Pilates, aquatic physiotherapy and individualised gym programmes.

Rehabilitation training exercises

Physiotherapy research (a large proportion of which has been conducted in Australia) has offered scientific explanations why specific exercise (including Pilates) is effective and has also directed us towards choosing the most appropriate exercises for an individual’s needs. In the last 10 years it has become a very important component of rehabilitation. It has been tailored to suit the needs of individuals who may have a particular movement dysfunction and lower levels of control and endurance of the stabilising muscles of the trunk and limbs. As well as Pilates exercise classes we offer aquatic physiotherapy and tailored gym programmes.

Aquatic physiotherapy

Sessions are offered as group therapy programs conducted by physiotherapists. Each participant has a program tailored to their specific injury and needs. Specific exercises are taught to address individual movement impairments with the aim of improving flexibility, strength and endurance.

Gym Programmes

Rehabilitation at our onsite Gym is often required on an individual basis initially, with the aim of progressing to an unsupervised program with intermittent reviews by the treating physiotherapist. This allows for flexibility around clients’ other commitments. Each participant has a program tailored to their specific injury and needs.

Pain Management –Individual and Group

Management of chronic pain conditions includes the integration of neuroscience education with graded and paced exercise programs using on site hydrotherapy and gym facilities. Collaboration with psychologists from the Paragon Psychology Service is often employed. This may be augmented by attendance at the on-site Paragon Pain Management Program conducted at 97 Smart Rd, Modbury.
